VARIETIES:
The Johnny's sports event is an annual showcase of the sporting ability of Johnny's groups. Split into J-White and J-Red teams, the groups that feature every year are Tokio, V6, Kinki Kids, Arashi and the Johnny's Jrs. SMAP was once part of this event but have since retired from the scene. Usual game segments include baseball, soccer, relays and sometimes basketball etc.
1996
JOHNNY'S SPORTS EVENT(SMAP, TOKIO,V6,KINKI KIDS)
This sports event is the last one featuring SMAP. They take the lead in the baseball challenge against the OB All Stars. Tokio goes head to head in athletics against world great Carl Lewis. Kinki Kids race F1 cars against the great Aryton Senna. And V6 takes the lead in soccer against ex-J League players.
1997
JOHNNY'S SPORTS EVENT(TOKIO,V6,KINKI KIDS, JOHNNY'S JR)
The format for this year's sports event is different. Instead of competing against each other, the various Johnny's groups strive to become Japan's best in quirky sports like Tatami mat throwing (Matsuoka), Dog Frisbee (Yamaguchi and Taichi), Mud soccer (V6) and more.
1998
JOHNNY'S SPORTS EVENT(TOKIO,V6,KINKI KIDS, JOHNNY'S JR)
The first year that the J-White vs J-Red teams were decided. The groups are split into each side and they compete in baseball, soccer, races, obstacle courses etc. There is also a half time show, where each group will come out and sing, and do some cool acrobatics.
1999
JOHNNY'S SPORTS EVENT (5 HOUR FULL SPECIAL)
The debut of ARASHI! Once again, it is a competition between J-White and J-Red in the traditional sports. Very interesting as this is the actual full 5 hour event. The others are snippets and excerpts from the sports event, but this is the uncut version (what the fans see.)
2000
JOHNNY'S SPORTS EVENT
The most recent sports event, this one featured new segments like the beach flag race, tatami mat balancing and pitching accuracy. Very interesting. There is also a penalty kick segment and the annual baseball challenge.
